Irene Shearer, Russell County (1915-2011)

She was a member of a large, highly regarded Russell Co., KY family. She leaves 42 direct living descendants. She was a homemaker and a member of the Union Chapel United Methodist Church.

Irene Shearer, 95, Brown RD, Jamestown, KY, died Saturday, March 5, 2011, at the Russell County Hospital, Russell Springs, KY.

The funeral service will be Wednesday, March 9, 201, at 1pmCT, at Bernard Funeral Home, 367 Main ST, Russell Springs, KY, with Bro. Shane Frederick, Bro. bobby Sexton, and Bro. Robert Morris officiating. Burial will be in the Dixon Cemetery. Visitation will be after 5pmCT, Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.



Irene Shearer, Russell County (1915-2011)

Irene Shearer was the daughter of the late Ada Gearl Antle Lawless and Liston Lawless. She was born Saturday, November 20, 1915, in Russell County, KY and died Saturday, March 5, 2011, in Russell Springs, Russell Co., KY, at the age of 95 years, 3 months, and 13 days.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Union Chapel United Methodist Church.

She is survived by the following:
  • Eight daughters: Naomi Wooldridge, Cora Lee Bolin, Brenda Higginbotham, and Debbie Stephens, all of Jamestown, KY; Sue Ann Zimmerman and Jennifer Beck, both of Russell Springs, KY; Nadine Wilson, Westerville, OH; and Rema Needels, Falls Church, VA

  • A daughter in law: Kay Shearer, Jamestown, KY

  • One sister: Eula Mae Bernard, Russell Springs, KY

  • Fourteen grandchildren

  • Twenty great grandchildren
In addition to her husband, Rollin Elford Shearer, she was preceded in death by two sons, Jack Shearer and Rollin L. Shearer; a daughter, Norma Jean Stearns; two brothers, Elmer Lawless and Ivan Lawless; and two sisters, Gertie Loy and Clara Bernard.
