Bernice McCandless, Knob Lick, KY (d. 2011)

She was the matriarch of a large, respected Metcalfe Co., KY family. She leaves 46 direct living descendants. Mrs. McCandless was a homemaker and a member of the Antioch Baptist Church

Bernice McCandless, age 88, of Knob Lick, KY, died Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow, KY.

Funeral services will be held 1pmCT, Friday, February 25, 2011, at Butler Funeral Home, 201 East ST, Edmonton, KY, with burial in the Boston Cemetery. Visitation will be 4pm-8pmCT, Thursday, February 24, 2011, and after 9amCT, Friday at the funeral home.

She was the daughter of the late Leslie and Daisy London Irwin. She was a homemaker and member of the Antioch Baptist Church.

She is survived by the following:
  • Four sons: Stanley McCandless of Gainesville, FL; Roger of Knob Lick, KY; Tony of Hiseville, KY; and Rex McCandless of Knob Lick, KY

  • Two daughters: Shirley Crawford of Louisville, KY: and Renetta Bailey of Sulphur Well, KY

  • Fifteen grandchildren

  • Twenty three great grandchildren

  • Two great great grandchildren
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Ralph and two sons Mitchell and David McCandless.
