News from the Center for Rural Development

Lonnie Lawson, President and CEO of The Center for Rural Development, announced Emily Phillips of Monticello has been named Community Liaison and Sales Associate for the organization.

As part of her job responsibilities, Phillips will travel across Southern and Eastern Kentucky to meet with elected officials and community leaders making them aware of the innovative programs, state-of-the-art technology, and professional services The Center has to offer communities within its 42-county primary service area.

"Emily will serve as the direct link between The Center and the communities we serve across our region," Lawson said. "It is vital we maintain a strong working relationship with these communities, and Emily will be the point of contact where people can go to learn more about The Center."

Phillips most recently was employed by Monticello Banking Company in Wayne County. Prior to that, she served as a major gifts officer at Union College in Barbourville.

Phillips earned a bachelor's degree in political science from Transylvania University, and a master's degree in public administration from Eastern Kentucky University.

While completing her graduate work, she also served as an intern for Kentucky League of Cities, a Lexington-based organization that supports community innovation, effective leadership and quality governance in cities across Kentucky.

"It is truly an honor to work for such an amazing organization," Phillips said, "and I look forward to making many new contacts in Southern and Eastern Kentucky."

Phillips and her husband, Frank, an attorney with Phillips & Phillip, live in Monticello, KY.
