Obituary: Mrs. Lynda Gorin Lobb, Green Co., KY (1936-2011)

She was a member of a highly regarded Green Co. family, a member of the Greensburg Baptist Church, and a retired supervisor and social worker for the Cabinet for Human Resources-Bureau for Social Services having worked 33 years. She was a graduate of the University of Kentucky, an avid U.K. sports fan, U.K. Fellow, and a lifetime member of the University of Kentucky Alumni. She was a former school teacher, a nutritionist for the State Health Department and Jane Todd Crawford Hospital, was a member of the Kentucky State Retirement Board and past President of the Green County Historical Society

Mrs. Lynda Gorin Lobb, 74, of Greensburg, KY departed this life on Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at the Sunrise Manor Nursing Facility in Hodgenville, KY. She was 74 years, six months and eight days of age.

The funeral services for Mrs. Lynda Gorin Lobb will be conducted at 1pmCT, Sunday, February 6, 2011, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S. Main ST, Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the Greensburg Cemetery. Bro. Ty Clenney will be officiating. Visitation is requested from 3pm until 9pmCT, Saturday, February 5, 2011, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7amCT, Sunday until time of the funeral service.



Pallbearers: Ronnie Teague, Jimmy Coakley, Samuel Janes, Mark Judd, James Skaggs, Roger Evans, Jeff Gorin, and Arnold Shakiun.

Mrs. Lynda Gorin Lobb, 74, of Greensburg, KY, was the daughter of the late Harold Jones Gorin and Mathis Coakley Gorin. She was born on Saturday, July 25, 1936 in Green Co., KY and departed this life on Wednesday, February 2, 2011 in Hodgenville, LaRue Co., Kentucky. She was 74 years, 6 months and 8 days of age.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Greensburg Baptist Church. She was a retired supervisor and social worker for the Cabinet for Human Resources-Bureau for Social Services having worked 33 years. She graduated from the University of Kentucky, was an avid U.K. sports fan, U.K. Fellow, and a lifetime member of the University of Kentucky Alumni. She was a former school teacher, a nutritionist for the State Health Department and Jane Todd Crawford Hospital, was a member of the Kentucky State Retirement Board and past President of the Green County Historical Society.

She united in marriage to Lester "Ping" Lobb on January 21, 1956 who preceded her in death on October 22, 1998.

Survivors include the following:
  • A son and daughter-in-law: William "Bill" and Becky Lobb of Greensburg, KY

  • A daughter and son-in-law: Leslie and Ronnie Teague of Greensburg, KY

  • Three grandchildren: Leticia Staton and her husband Derrick of Lexington, KY; and Samuel Janes, and Lydia Teague, both of Greensburg, KY

  • A sister: Margaret Oppedisano of Greensburg, KY

  • And a host of other relatives and friends
The family has asked that expression of sympathy take the form of donations to the Gideon Bible Fund or the Greensburg Cemetery, which can be made at the funeral home.

The Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S. Main ST, Greensburg, KY, in charge of arrangements.
