Fishing

The fishing season lasts all year long and they're biting every day, but the locals refer to March as "Prime Time!" Crappie, bream, muskie, walleye, trout, catfish, and five species of bass--largemouth, smallmouth, white, Kentucky and rock--have given Dale Hollow Lake the honor as a top fishing spot in the country. This lake held the world record smallmouth bass and the state record muskie. Dale Hollow Lake, which was formed by backing up Tennessee's Obey River in 1943, has 620 miles of shoreline. There are plenty of shoals, small tributaries and clean, clear water to encourage healthy fish growth.

Spear Fishing

Dale Hollow Lake is an excellent place to practice this sport. Underwater spearing of rough fish with hand-held or mechanically propelled spear is permitted year-round in Dale Hollow Lake. All participants in this sport must be submerged while spear fishing. Only rough fish may be taken and the appropriate fishing license is required. The daily creel limit is 15 fish.

Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park has a lodge, restaurant, campground, hiking and horseback-riding trails. Dale Hollow is also home to an 18-hole golf course.
