The banners are up and Adair County is ready to count!

Click to read latest update list of Committed County

By Barbara Armitage

It's just 16 days to the Great Backyard Bird Count and Adair County is getting geared up to count. We're spoiling our birds with Adair County Wild bird Seed Mix, keeping our ACGC Gourmet Suet hanging nearby, young and old are dusting off their bird identification books and we are ready.

From February 18 through the 21, 2011, Adair Countians will become citizen scientists and count tens of thousands of birds in support of the Great Backyard Bird Count.

If you'd like to learn more about feeding and identifying the birds attend one of the Adair County Garden Club's Birding 101 classes. Two more classes are being offered this year for your convenience. Birding 101 classes will be held at the Adair County Extension Office, 409 Fairground ST, Columbia.

  • Saturday February 5, 2011, at 10amCT
  • Friday February 11, 2011, at 6:30pmCT
For more information on Birding 101 classes - the Great Backyard Bird Count and how you can participate contact Barbara Armitage (270) 250-2979.

Learn, have fun, be a part of the world's largest scientific experiment.

This free class is brought to you by the Adair County Garden Club and is open to bird lovers of all ages. -Barbara Armitage
