CEO with 30 years hospital experience in charge at Westlake

Mr. Phil Shaw, a hospital executive with 30 years experience as a CEO in hospital management, arrived in Columbia today, February 1, 2011, to take charge as the temporary CEO at Westlake Regional Hospital, according to Adair County Hospital Board of Trustees Chairman Jim Evans.

Mr. Shaw will stay until Monday, February 7, 2011, when a colleague, Rick Brown, will arrive to serve as interim Administrator while a national search is conducted for a permanent CEO.

"Everything is running smoothly," Mr. Shaw said. "Patients are being given excellent care, and there have been no problems. Everything is running smoothly." He added that patient census is up, though only slightly.

Following the departure of former CEO Rex A. Tungate, who left the post, along with eight top management members effective January 31, 2011, Mr. Shaw and Mr. Brown will be guiding the hospital . They are serving under a contract with Spectrum Health Partners, LLC, 109 International DR, Franklin, TN.
