CEO Rusty Tungate, 8 others of top WRH management resign Board learned of apparently coordinated resignations in letters opened at around 8:30amCT, Monday morning, January 31, 2011. Interim CEO will be on site Tuesday, February 1, 2011. Employees get reassurance from Board Chairman Jim Evans that jobs will continue. "Employees have nothing to fear," he said. Evans said that community can expect to see continued high quality services. Medical staff at hospital, at Primary Cares are under contract and are expected to continue as before, for the present, Chairman Evans said. By Ed Waggener Westlake Regional Hospital CEO Rusty Tungate and eight of the hospital's top management team have resigned. Board Chairman Jim Evans, who is currently in charge, said that it was because of a disagreement with the board. "We wanted to run one hospital, Westlake Regional Hospital," Chairman Evans said. "He (Tungate) wanted to run three." Evans said that he wishes to reassure the community and the workers at the hospital that the hospital will continue to operate. "Workers have nothing to fear," he said. "Jobs will continue as they were. "The community can be assured, too, that operations will continue without interruption and that services will continue." Word of the resignations came in the form of letters this morning, Chairman Evans said. Those resigning include, besides CEO Tungate:
In a letter to employees, Mr. Evans wrote, "As most of you are aware, we have contracted with Spectrum Health Partners, LLC, to provide future guidance. We appreciate all of the energy our staff exuberates on a daily basis to be the best health care facilities in the area and we ask you to continue these great efforts as we strive to move our health Care facilities forward. "We will continue to keep you informed during this time of transition. You will be provided immediate guidance through our Interim CEO and Administrator starting Feb. 1, 2011. Should anyone have any questions or concerns between now and then, feel free to contact any of your local board members.
