Eastridge Cemetery Road man charged with attempted murder

Taylor County Sheriff's Office makes arrest on Eastridge Cemetery Road in Adair County, following allegation that the assailant had shot the driver of a mule-drawn wagon on DBK Road in the Elk Horn Community of Taylor Co., KY. TCSO assisted by Adair Sheriffs Office, KSP

Richard H. Humphress, 48, Campbellsville, KY, was arrested at his Eastridge Cemetery Road residence in Adair County, KY on Sunday afternoon, January 30, 2011, following a shooting incident on DBK Road, near the Adair County line, but on the Taylor County side, in the Elkhorn Community. He was charged with the attempted murder of Tony Vaughn.



After receiving a complaint, officers arrived at the scene where they learned that Tony Vaughn, 52 had been shot in the back, allegedly by Richard Humphress of Eastridge Cemetery Road. Vaughn told the officers that he had been riding in his mule-drawn wagon when Humphress drove up behind him, got out of his truck and then shot at him with a shotgun. Vaughn said he the shotgun pellets struck him in the back.

Humphress was located at his residence on Eastridge Cemetery Road, which divides Northern Adair County and Taylor County, where Humphress was arrested.

Humphress was lodged in the Taylor County Detention Center.

Vaughn was treated for his wounds at Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville, KY.Taylor County Deputy Sheriff Rodney Cox is the investigating officer. Taylor County Sheriff's Office officers were assisted by the Adair County Sheriff's Office and the Kentucky State Police.
