Obituary: Audrey Pearl McGowan, 87, Russell Co., KY

She was the matriarch of a large, highly regarded Russell County family. She leaves 78 direct living descendants

Audrey Pearl McGowan, 87, Foley AV, Jamestown, KY, died Wednesday, January 26, 2011, at the Russell County Hospital, Russell Springs, KY.

The funeral service will be Saturday, January 29, 2011, at 10amCT, at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 Main ST, Russell Springs, KY, with Bro. Jamie McCormack the officiating clergy. Special music will be rendered by the Glory Heirs. Burial will be in the Parks Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be after 5pmCT, Friday, January 28, 2011, at the funeral home.


Pallbearers: Daniel McGowan, Travis McGowan, Tyler McGowan, Trey McGowan, Shannon McGowan, Seth McGowan, Michael McGowan, and Charles McGowan.

Honorary Pallbearers: Gerald McGowan, Kevin Shearer, Nick Shearer, Darren McGowan, Jackie McGowan, Terry McGowan, Troy McGowan, Tony Mann, and Teddy Mann.

Audrey Pearl McGowan, Russell Co., KY (1923-2011)

She was born Saturday, February 17, 1923, in Russell Co., KY. She was the daughter of the late Sophie Tarter Tucker and T.O. Tucker. She died January 26, 2011, in Russell Springs, Russell Co., KY, at the age of 87 years, 11 months, and 9 days.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tulsa B. McGowan.

She is survived by the following:
  • Six children: Kay Shearer, Drew (Lila) McGowan, Coy (Gloria) McGowan, all of Jamestown, KY; Donald (Geraldine) McGowan and Limmy (Patsy), McGowan, both of Russell Springs, KY; and Lona (Kevin) White, Ashland, KY.

  • One sister in law: Lura Kuhn, Russell Springs, KY

  • Two brothers: Thurlo (Audrey) Tucker; and C.V. (Hilda) Tucker, both of Russell Springs, KY

  • Twenty five grandchildren

  • Thirty-seven great grandchildren

  • Ten great great grandchildren
Mrs. McGowan was a homemaker.

Bernard Funeral Home, 367 Main ST, Russell Springs, KY, in charge of arrangements.
