Remembering Emily Sargent: All at CU saddened by her passing Campus community at Campbellsville University have fond memories of Mrs. Emily's visits with her sister, Board of Trustees Member Mary Frances May Comments re article 42017: Eulogy for Ms Emily Sargent By John Chowning Dr. Ted Taylor's eulogy of Mrs. Emily is very well done and a fitting tribute to a wonderful lady who lived life to the fullest and who touched many lives. As I stated in an earlier post to Columbia Magazine, all of us at Campbellsville University were very saddened by Mrs. Emily's passing and will miss her. We have many fond memories of her visits along with her dear sister, Mrs. Mary Frances May, who has served with distinction on the Campbellsville University Board of Trustees for more than two decades. Mary Frances and I came on the CU Board of Trustees together and served together on the Board for two four-year terms. During my time serving as the Chair and Vice Chair of the Board, Mary Frances was a strong supporter and key leader in several initiatives that were taken to move Campbellsville forward - including our move to University status in 1996. For the past thirteen years in my role as vice president and executive assistant to the president, Mary Frances has continued to be a key trustee. We will miss "Miss Emily" and know that she will be looking down and smiling from heaven as we all continue to work hard in this part of the state. And we know that Mary Frances will continue serving and keeping her sister's legacy alive for her many friends. Blessings to the family. -- John Chowning This story was posted on 2011-01-27 17:03:14
