Obituary: Virginia Curry Childers, 88, Taylor Co., KY

She was a member of a large, respected Taylor Co., KY, family. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, a former employee of Fruit of the Loom and a former manager of the KOA Campground in Campbellsville, KY.

Virginia "Sis" Curry Childers of Campbellsville, KY died at 6amET, Wednesday, January 26, 2011 in Jeffersonville, IN.

The funeral service will be at 2pmET/1pmCT., Saturday, January 29, 2011 at theParrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, 418 Lebanon AV, Campbellsville, KY by Bro. Gary D. Wagner, Jr. and Pastor Phillip Kelley. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery, W. Main ST, Cambpellsville, KY. Visitation will be after 5pmET/4pmCT, at the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home.



Virginia "Sis" Curry Childers, Taylor Co., KY (1922-2011)

Virginia "Sis" Curry Childers was the daughter of the late Alvin Tucker Curry and Fannie Parrott Curry. She was born in Taylor Co., KY, Friday October 13, 1922. She died Wednesday, January 26, 2011 in Jeffersonville, Clark Co., IN at the age of 88 years, 3 months, and 13 days.

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

She was a former employee of Fruit of the Loom and manager of KOA Campground in Campbellsville, KY.

She united in marriage to Ballard "Chick" Childers November 9, 1944. He preceded her in death August 3, 1989.

She is survived by the following:
  • A son and daughter-in-law, Kenny and Bonnie Childers of Campbellsville, KY

  • Seven grandchildren: Kasey Moss and husband, Chris, Shari Sallee and husband, Kevin, Donnie Bault and wife, Vicki, Angela Milby and husband, Chris and Georgia Childers of Campbellsville, KY; Savannah Boone and husband, Brandon of Hodgenville, KY; and Kyle Childers and wife, Cari-Lynn of Spring Hill, FL

  • Seven great-grandchildren: Wesley Goodrum, Ashton Moss, Justin Scallon, Makayla Childers, Andrea Bault, Savannah Sallee and Kori Bault

  • one great-great-grandson, Wesley Goodrum, Jr.

  • Several nieces and nephews

  • And many other relatives and friends
She was preceded in death by one son and one daughter: Lewis Bault and Janet Goodrum and a brother, James Curry.

The family requests expressions of sympathy be donations to Gideon Bibles and may be made at the funeral home.

The Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, 418 Lebanon AV, Campbellsville, KY, in charge of arrangements.
