Shaun Cozart named head golf coach at Lindsey Wilson New coach moves up from assistant to top coaching job. James England will continue as Director of Golf Operations at The Pines at Lindsey Wilson. Coach Cozart is married to LWC Women's Softball Coach Ashley McCool Click on headline for story plus photo Columbia, KY - Shaun Cozart has been named head golf coach at Lindsey Wilson College, athletic director Willis Pooler announced on Wednesday, January 26, 2011. Cozart becomes head coach of the men's and women's golf programs after serving as The Pines at Lindsey Wilson's Clubhouse Golf Pro and Assistant Director of Golf Operations for the last six months. "Shaun is the logical choice to take over our golf programs following the decision to split the head golf coach and director of golf operations positions," Pooler said. "I'm confident in Shaun's knowledge of the game and his ability to lead our nationally prominent programs. "But equally important to me is that I'm confident that Shaun is a high-character individual who will provide out student-athletes with an enjoyable collegiate experience both on and off the golf course." Cozart takes over the coaching duties from James England, who continues to serve as The Pines at Lindsey Wilson's Director of Golf Operations. Cozart says he is excited about the opportunity to lead two nationally-respected programs. "I am blessed and honored to be able to coach at a college where I can be around a sport that I love," Cozart said. "I look forward to adding to the success of the highly regarded golf programs and I appreciate the administration at Lindsey Wilson for giving me this opportunity. "This is a wonderful college community which strives to help others and mold student-athletes into successful men and women." Before coming to Lindsey Wilson, Cozart worked at multiple golf courses around his hometown of LaVergne, TN. While earning his degree at Union (TN.) University, Cozart passed the Player Aptitude Test (PAT) in preparation of becoming a teaching professional. As a former collegiate baseball player, a majority of Cozart's coaching experience comes from the diamond. He has had stints as assistant coach with Martin Luther King High School in Tennessee and with the Nashville Tigers -- a summer league team made up of high school and collegiate players. While finishing his degree at Union, Cozart spent a season as an administrative intern with the Jackson Diamondbacks minor league baseball team - an affiliate of major league baseball's Seattle Mariners. Cozart's prep golf career includes lettering four years at LaVergne High School where he qualified for the region tournament in his junior and senior seasons. Cozart is married to the former Ashley McCool - current head softball coach at Lindsey Wilson. The couple resides in Columbia, KY.
