Deadline for filing for statewide offices over

Senate President David Williams, Burkesville, KY, has two Republican primary opponents in race for Governor. Governor Beshear has no Democratic opposition. Adair native Hilda Legg has single Republican opponent in race for Secretary of State. Former Columbian David Williams has four Democratic opponents for Commissioner of Agriculture. The deadline for filing for Statewide offices in the Tuesday, May 17, 2011, primary election has passed. The deadline was 4pmET/3pmCT, in Frankfort, KY.

Democrat for Governor

Governor Steve Beshear is the only Democrat to file for that office. His running mate is former Louisville Mayor Jerry Abramson, who has already been in Columbia, KY campaigning. Filed January 6, 2011.

Republican for Governor

Senate President David Williams, Burkesville, KY, whose running mate is Richie Farmer has two opponents. President Williams formerly represented Adair County in the Senate, and continues to have very strong ties here. Filed January 18, 2011.

One team is Phil Moffet, Louisville, KY, whose running mate is Mike Harmon, Danville, KY. Filed January 21, 2011.

The other is Barbara "Bobbie" Holtzclaw, Louisville, KY, whose running mate is Bill Vermillion of Caneyville, KY. Filed January 25, 2011.
