Obituary: Lonnie Popplewell, 61, Adair Co., KY

He was member of a respected East Adair County family with deep roots in Adair and Russell Co., KY. He was a highly skilled auto body craftsman, and a member of the Freedom Church of God.

Lonnie Popplewell, 61, Wheet RD, Columbia, KY, died Thursday, January 20, 2011, at Norton Hospital, Louisville, KY.

The funeral service will be Sunday, January 23, 2011, at 1pmCT, at Bernard Funeral Home, 367 Main ST, Russell Springs, KY, with Bro. David Coffey, Bro. Carlie Riggs, and Bro. Scott Allen the officiating clergy. Special music will be rendered by Valerie Taylor. Burial will be in Freedom Cemetery, 576 Freedom Church RD, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be after 5pmCT, Saturday, January 22, 2011.



Pallbearers: Russell Coomer, Charles D. Hale, Larry Rexroat, Mitchell Richards, Kenton Thomas, Chris Wilson, Rudy Higginbotham, and Dean Mann.
Lonnie Popplewell, Adair Co., KY (1949-2011)

Lonnie Popplewell was the son of the late Vena Pearl Knight Popplewell and Orba Popplewell. He was born in Russell Co., KY, on Tuesday, February 15, 1949. He died Thursday, January 20, 2011, in Louisville, Jefferson Co., KY, at the age of 61 years, 11 months, and 5 days.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Popplewell, Columbia, KY, and the following:
  • One daughter: Jill Popplewell, Columbia, KY

  • Two sisters; Joe Retta (John) Whitaker, London, KY; and LaDonna (Larry) McQueary, Russell Springs, KY

  • One brother: Mike (Deborah) Popplewell, Russell Springs, KY
He was a highly skilled auto body man, widely respected in his field. He was a member of the Freedom Church of God.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Greg Popplewell.

Bernard Funeral Home, 367 Main ST, Russell Springs, KY, in charge of arrangements.
