Obituary: Coy Lee Godbey, 81, Russell Co., KY

He was a member of a highly regarded Russell Co., KY family. He served his country in three wars: World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War. Mr. Godbey had been a warehouse manager for Welding Supply Co.

Coy Lee Godbey, 81, Robin Lane, Russell Springs, KY, died Wednesday, January 19, 2011, at his home.

The funeral service will be Saturday, January 22, 2011, at 1pmCT, at Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 Main ST, Russell Springs, KY, with Rev. Jim Kingry the officiating clergy. Special music will be rendered by the Irwin Family. Visitation will be after 11amCT, Saturday, January 22, 2011, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Willow Springs Cemetery, Hway 1649, Casey County, KY.



Pallbearers: Tom Littrell, Eric Littrell, Greg Littrell, Coy Comer, Kameron Phillips, Joel Phillips, Kelly Comer, and Herman Phillips. Honorary: Staff Sgt. Kenneth Littrell.

Coy Lee Godbey, Russell Springs, KY (1929-2011)

Coy Lee Godbey was the son of the late Mattie Jane Warren Godbey and Samuel Godbey. He was born on Wednesday, July 24, 1929, in Hamilton Co., OH, and died Wednesday, January 19, 2011, in Russell Springs, Russell Co., KY, at the age of 81 years, 5 months, and 26 days.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army who served in three wars: World War II, Korea, and the Vietnam War. He was a warehouse manager for Welding Supply Co.

He was preceded in death by five brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Godbey, Russell Springs, KY, and the following:
  • Four children: Gregory (Casey) Godbey, Olalla, WA; Bonita (Kelly) Comer, Russell Springs, KY; Joy Littrell, Nicholsville, KY; and Celestie (Herman) Phillips, Hebron, KY

  • Two brothers: Edward Godbey, Fairfield, OH, and Harold Godbey, Liberty, KY

  • Three sisters: Jean Adams and Mary Lee, both of Liberty, KY; and Charlotte Irwin, Trenton, OH.

  • Nine granddchildren
