The Kentucky Department of Agriculture announced their annual grants with total money of $495,000.00 and the maximum you could receive was the $100,000.00 that the Adair County Fair received. Adair was one out of six fairs across the state that was given grants this year by the Department of Agriculture. The grant is earmarked and will be used for the completion of the 125 x 50 pavilion that was built last year. Items planned are putting permanent electrical and lights in the building, sound, closing in the back 30 feet of the building to make a room for miscellaneous uses during the fair and after, and other items to make this a building the community will have for years to come. The first award presented to the Adair County Fair was an All Kentucky Fair Award. The All Kentucky Awards are given to county fairs who consistently utilize all state funds available. The awards are based on information reported to Show and Fair Promotion Department of the Kentucky Department of Agriculture. Following that award Adair County received an award for Zone 2, Division A, Runner up Most Progressive Fair. The Most Progressive Fair Awards are judged in four categories:
The state is divided into three zones with each zone having two divisions based on population. Division A is counties with populations under 20,000 and Division B is counties with populations over 20,000. BR>County fairs compete for The Most Progressive Fair Awards within their respected zones and divisions.
