Seminar at Liberty, KY, to help gardeners sell by internet, to chefs

Barbara Armitage, a Kentucky Entrepreneurial Coach, forwarded information on a seminar coming up in Casey County for growers interested in selling fresh food products to restaurant chefs and consumers via the internet. Seminar features internet selling directly to consumers and has how to develop business ties with restaurants, restaurant chefs

Ricky Cannon, working with the Kentucky Entrepreneurial Coaches Institute, will host an informative meeting for growers interested in selling fresh food products to restaurant chefs and consumers via the internet. The meeting will be held at the Casey County Extension Building, Tuesday, January 25, 2011, at 6pmET/5pmCT. To RSVP for the meeting to learn more about encouraging farmer-chef business relationships, contact the Casey County Extension Office at 606-787-7384 by Friday, January 21, 2011. Tim Will, will be one featured keynote speaker at the meeting. Tim Will, the Executive Director of 'Online Farmers Fresh Market' located in Rutherfordton, North Carolina, will present the business model that was used for Western North Carolina farmers.

Farmers Fresh Market is a virtual "Farmers Market" linking growers, chefs, and individual buyers. Once orders are placed online, local growers process them, and we deliver them - picked and shipped within 24 hours! The goal of the program is to provide the freshest and most flavorful local produce in a convenient and sustainable manner."

Dr. Lee Meyer will also be a featured keynote speaker at the meeting. Dr. Meyer, University of Kentucky Specialist for Sustainable Agriculture and Marketing, will discuss marketing strategies specific to Kentucky growers.

A meal will also be provided for those in attendance. Please RSVP so the correct amount of food can be prepared.
