Obituary: Pershing (Pete) Murphy, 74, Adair Co., KY He was a member of Missionary Baptist Church in Russell Springs, KY, a former member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Somerset, KY, and was a retired machinist from General Motors. Pershing D. "Pete" Murphy, 74, of Columbia, KY, formerly of Somerset, KY died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011 at his residence. The funeral service will be Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at 1pmET/12pm noon CT, in the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home, 165 Highway 2227, (MAP) Somerset, KY, with burial in Somerset Cemetery, 511 W. Columbia ST, (MAP) Somerset, KY. Visitation will be after 5pmET/4pmCT, at the funeral home. Pershing D. "Pete" Murphy, Columbia, KY (1936-2011) He was born in Pulaski Co., KY, on Wednesday, January 15, 1936. He was the son of the late Henry and Pearlie Rowe Murphy. He died Thursday, January 13, 2011, in Columbia, Adair Co., KY, at the age of 74 years, 11 months, and 29 days. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by nine brothers, Boyd, Herbert, Elmer, William, Earnest, Wayman, Henry Jr., Kenneth and Lawrence, an infant son, Marvin Floyd and his first wife, Billie Mae Ramsey Murphy. Pete later married Sharen Murphy, who survives of Columbia, KY. Besides his wife, he is survived by the following:
