Cumberland Co., KY deaths believed murder suicide

Post 15 investigation continues into deaths. KSP's investigation indicates 75-year-old husband shot 39-year-old wife, then himself

Cumberland Co., KY - The Kentucky State Police are investigating an incident that resulted in the death of 75-year-old Blanton Howard and his wife, 39-year-old Stephanie Howard, both of Burkesville, KY.



Cumberland County dispatch contacted KY State Police Post 15, Columbia, KY, on Sunday, January 9, 2011, just after 8:30amCT, and requested assistance at a residence on Scott River Drive in the limits of Burkesville with a possible murder/suicide.

The investigation revealed that Blanton Howard shot Stephanie Howard during a domestic altercation and then turned the weapon on himself and took his own life.

Autopsies were performed today and preliminary results confirmed that both victims died as a result of gunshot wounds. Detective B.J. Burton is continuing the investigation.
