Obituary: J.D. Henson, 93, Campbellsville, KY

He was a member of a highly regarded Adair Co., KY, family. He was a veteran of World War II, a former factory worker, and was an eight year council member then eight year Mayor of Wadsworth, OH.

J.D. Henson, 93, of Campbellsville, KY, died Thursday, January 6, 2011 at his residence at Bluegrass Way.

J.D. Henson, Campbellsville, KY (1917-2010)

He was born Monday, March 5, 1917 in Adair Co. KY. He was the son of the late John Calvin and Betty Ann Johnston Henson. He died Thursday, January 6, 2010, in Campbellsville, Taylor Co., KY, at the age of 93 years, 10 months, and 1 days.

He was a US Army Veteran of World War II, was a former factory worker and served for eight years as a City Council member and then eight years as Mayor of Wadsworth, OH.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Cora Louise Ford Henson on March 23, 2008, and by two brothers and one sister, Gaylord and Henry Henson, and Cecil Lowery.

Survivors include the following:
  • One son: John S. Henson, of Missoula, MT

  • Two grandchildren

  • Two nephews and two nieces, including: Bill Henson and Betty Helen Sapp, both of Columbia, KY
At Mr. Henson's request, cremation has taken place and a family service will be held later.
