LWC Soccer: Women advance in 2010 soccer playoffs Mia Persson scores pair of goals, Elisha Fry gets one in Lindsey Wilson Women's Soccer victory, 3-0, over Cornerstone University of Grand Rapids, MI, in a Saturday game at Walter S. Reuling Stadium, 151 Holloway DR, Columbia, KY Columbia, KY - No. 7-seed Lindsey Wilson College scored three second half goals to beat visiting Cornerstone University 3-0 Saturday, November 20, 2010, in the NAIA Womens Soccer National Tournament Opening Round at Walter S. Reuling Stadium. The Blue Raiders (16-6) advance to the national tournaments final site to face the winner of No. 10-seed Robert Morris College and Spring Arbor University on Tuesday, November 30 in Decatur, AL. Lindsey Wilson sophomore midfielder Mia Persson scored a pair of goals to lead the Blue Raider charge. Following a scoreless first half, Persson wasted little time in the second half giving the host the 1-0 lead. Twenty-eight seconds into the second frame senior Katy Gilmour played a cross from the left flank that Cornerstone keeper Alyssa Morrow slightly deflected. Persson collected the deflection on the far post and scored the empty-netter for the lead. Junior Elisha Fry doubled the Blue Raider lead in the 58th minute as she headed home a goal off junior Ida Gregersens corner kick. Ten minutes later, Lindsey Wilson scored its third and final goal of the afternoon as Persson scored from deep in the penalty area off of senior Caitlin Burkes assist. Lindsey Wilson goalkeeper Reiko Yoshida stopped two shots en route to the shutout win. Morrow finished with three saves. Cornerstones season ends with an 11-7-2 record.
