Columbia, KY- Christian Castillo netted his second goal of the day in the 57th minute to push Southern Polytechnic State University of Marietta, GA, past the Lindsey Wilson College men's soccer team 2-1 in the first round of the NAIA National Championship on Saturday at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.

Castillo struck early, putting the Hornets up 1-0 with an unassisted goal in the 13th minute. The lead didn't last long though as Blue Raider sophomore Lebogang Moloto took a cross from his classmate Joe Tait in the 35th minute that he buried into the back of the net to tie the game.

Just 12 minutes into the second half, Castillo managed to score again on the goal that ultimately decided the outcome. Castillo entered the game against the Blue Raiders with just three goals on the season as he nearly doubled his output for the year against the Blue Raiders.

The loss is the first for the Blue Raiders in the first round of the NAIA National Championship. Entering today's game, Lindsey Wilson held a 3-0-0 record in first-round action.

The Blue Raiders weren't without chances down the stretch to tie the game as freshman Orrin Farrell attempted four straight corner kicks after the second Castillo goal to no avail. Other opportunities came from Farrell, Tait and sophomore Mat Luak who all took strikes at the goal that were saved by Hornet keeper Eric Ati.

Ati finished the game with four saves and just one goal against, while Lindsey Wilson sophomore goalkeeper Greg Hartley made just one save with the two goals against.

The Blue Raiders outshot the Hornets 16-9, including a 5-3 advantage in shots on goal. Fouls were nearly even with Southern Poly being whistled for one more than Lindsey Wilson (8-7).

Lindsey Wilson's season comes to a close with a 15-4-1 record, while the Hornets improve to 12-4-3.
