Obituary: Arcola Ray Foley, 86

Russell County, KY U.S. Navy veteran has distinction of being the youngest member of the Black Cat Squadron serving in World War II. He was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church

Arcola Ray Foley, 86, Russell Springs, KY, died Friday, November 12, 2010, at the Russell Co. Hospital in Russell Springs, KY.

The funeral service will be at 11amCT, Monday, November 15, 2010, at Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 Main ST, Russell Springs, KY, with Dr. David Floyd the officiating clergy. Visitation will be 9am-11amCT, Monday morning, November 15, 2010 at the funeral Home. Burial will be in Lakeside Memorial Gardens, 4790 W Highway 80, Somerset, KY.



Arcola Ray Foley, Russell Co., KY (1924-2010)

Arcola Ray Foley was the son of the late Ersie Roberts Foley and Otha Ray Foley. He was born Sunday, April 13, 1924, in Rantoul, Champaign Co., IL, and died Friday, November 12, 2010, in Russell Springs, Russell Co., KY at the age of 86 years, 6 months, and 30 days.

He was a factory worker for Formica Corporation during his working career. He was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church and a U.S. Navy veteran and holds the distinction of having been the youngest member of the Black Cat Squadron serving in World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline Foley, Russell Springs, KY, and the following:
  • Three children: Michael Allen (Susan Carol) Foley, Jacksonville, FL; Diana Carol (Dale) York, Somerset, KY; and Paula Lynn (Wayne) Davis, Cincinnati, OH

  • Five grandchildren: Michelle, John, Vickie, Keta and Tan

  • Four great grandchildren: Joshua, Charles, Emilee and Alex
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Kenneth, Randall, and Othello Foley.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Etwell Montgomery, Geneva Stanko, and Eleanor Bond.

Bernard Funeral Home, 367 Main ST, Russell Springs, KY, in charge of arrangements.
