Whittlers: Watch for summons to converge on Square On soon to be announced date and time, Hill & Jones expect a huge convergence of whittlers on the Columbia Square, with timber in hand!!! By Ken Hill For too long now, the topic of whittling has gone silent! Since previous postings I have spent many unproductive hours reducing 50 year-old fence posts to a pile of sweet smelling shavings, (It is amazing how the odor of 1/2 century old Cedar rejuvenates itself with the application of American steel) and it is the most therapeutic discovery I have made in my 30+ years of living. OK +++++!. Barry Jones and I have researched the matter thoroughly and have decided that there is a niche demographic for mindless whittlers like us. And based on our research we have thoroughly dismissed the notion that years of public service have rendered us incapable of much else. With these (facts) in mind we are now prepared to issue an alert! At any moment we will issue a call for all whittlers to converge on the Adair County Public Square with timber in hand!!! We expect a huge turnout! We are basing this on recent media accounts of young people arriving en masse, at various locations, because of some anarchist blogger's call. We trust in the power of CM and ED to mirror these results. Whittlers be ready! Be ever vigilant! Have your favorite steel and red cedar in hand, because the time will come when we will sit on the Public Square just as our ancestors have so gallantly done before us. -Ken Hill This story was posted on 2010-11-11 18:46:53
