Obituary: Sylvia Darlene (Dean) Houk Jeffries, 65, Green Co., KY

She was a member of a large, respected Green Co. family. She had professed faith in Christ. She was a former clerk for Humana Insurance Co.

Mrs. Sylvia Darlene Houk Jeffries, 65, of Greensburg, KY, departed this life on Monday, November 8, 2010 at the Jane Todd Crawford Hospital, Greensburg, KY.

The funeral services for Mrs. Sylvia Darlene "Dean" Houk Jeffries will be conducted at 11amCT, Thursday, November 11, 2010, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S. Main ST, Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the Kessler Cemetery in Green County. Bro. Steve Bunch will be officiating. Visitation is requested from 3pm to 9pmCT, Wednesday, November 10, 2010, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7amCT, Thursday until time of the funeral service.



Pallbearers: Tommy Wright, Jonathan Houk, Michael Judd, Joey Rainwater, Adam Rainwater, Jake Houk, and Josh Houk.

Mrs. Sylvia Darlene Houk Jeffries, Green Co., KY (1945-2010)

Mrs. Sylvia Darlene Houk Jeffries of Greensburg, KY, was the daughter of the late Boyce T. Houk and Ann Elizabeth Judd Houk. She was born on Monday, January 22, 1945 in Green Co., KY, and departed this life on Monday, November 8, 2010 at the Jane Todd Crawford Hospital, Greensburg, KY. She was 65 years, 9 months and 17 days of age.

Honorary pallbearers: April Houk, Franchesca Judd, Shannon Meadows, Kim Sweet, Jeremy Houk, and Jason Houk.She had made a profession of faith in Christ and she was a former clerk for Humana Insurance Company.

She united in marriage to Carl Woodson Jeffries who survives.

Other survivors include the following:
  • A son and two daughters: Johnny J. Jeffries and Rebecca Lynn Jeffries both of Greensburg, KY; and Sharon Sue Wilson of Indiana

  • A step-son: James Alfred Jeffries of Campbellsville, KY

  • Three brothers and three sisters: Ronnie Houk and Bonnie Lou Wright both of Greensburg, KY; Boyce T. Houk, Jr. of Russell Springs, KY; and Carol Sue Handy, Lynnuell "Booie" Houk, and Jeanie Judd all of Greensburg, KY

  • Six grandchildren

  • One step-grandchild

  • and a host of other relatives and friends
The Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S. Main ST, Greensburg, KY, is in charge of arrangements.
