Obituary: Joe Willis Bledsoe, 89, formerly of Russell Co., KY

He was a US Navy veteran, a carpenter, and a member of the Bethany Christian Church in Charlestown, IN

Joe Willis Bledsoe, 89, Charlestown, IN, formerly of the Creelsboro Community of Russell Co., KY, died Monday, November 1, 2010, at Clark Memorial Hospital, Jeffersonville, IN.

The funeral service, with military honors, will be at 10amCT, Thursday, November 4, 2010, at Bernard Funeral Home, 367 Main ST, Russell Springs, KY, with Bro. Larry Jones the officiating clergy. Visitation will be after 5pmCT, Wednesday, November 3, 2010, at the funeral home.1 Burial will be in Campbell Cemetery.



Active Pallbearers: Lynn Wheat, Phillip Dale Combest, Rick Cooper, Gerald Coe, Steve Bledsoe, and Danny K. Coffey. Honorary pallbearer: Tommy Bledsoe.

Joe Willis Bledsoe, Russell Co., KY native (1921-2010)

Joe Willis Bledsoe was the son of the late Bessie Campbell Bledsoe and George Willis Bledsoe. He was born Thursday, August 18, 1921, in Russell Co., KY, and died Monday, November 1, 2010, in Jeffersonville, Clark Co., IN, at the age of 89 years, 2 months, and 14 days.

He was a veteran of the US Navy, a carpenter, and was a member of the Bethany Christian Church in Charlestown, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Allen Bledsoe and Tom Bledsoe, and by one sister, Ruth Combest.

He is survived by his wife, Mae Elizabeth Coe Bledsoe, and the following:
  • Three sons: Lerry (Toni) Bledsoe, Morgantown, WV; Larry (Janet) Bledsoe, West Lafayette, IN; and Jeff Bledsoe, Jacksonville, FL

  • And six grandchildren
