ETA 12-12:30pmCT: Greet the State Champion ACHS band today! Band will be returning with 19th State Championship, after 25 appearances in the Kentucky State Championship finals. Winning is routine for The Band Nation and it's Tradition of Excellence, but this victory may be the greatest ever. Everyone is urged to line the convoy parade route when the band arrives. By Ed Waggener from dispatches on the road from Shamarie Claiborne, Doyle Lloyd News from the Adair County High School Band From Mile Marker 114, I-65. 10:30amCT The Adair County Band is on schedule to arrive in Columbia, KY shortly after 12pm noon CT, today. The band will be returning with perhaps its most savored championship ever, last night at Papa John's Stadium, where the Adair Countians were the dominating band among 20 of the very best Kentucky bands of all sizes, taking a clear cut win in the Class AAA Division. "There isn't a Grand Championship at the State Finals," Shamarie Claiborne said, "but if there had been, there's no doubt in anybody's mind that Adair County would have taken it." Second year ACHS Band Director Tom Case was overwhelmed. "Unbelievable! Remarkable! Absolutely astounding victory," he said. "I am so happy for our students and so proud of The Band Nation." Mr. Case will be addressing the band and the public at the world headquarters of The Band Nation, the Raymond Lacey Music Building, at 230 Gen. John Adair DR, Columbia, KY, shortly after the huge convoy arrives. An awesome, thrilling convoy is moving south across Kentucky now The awesome sight of the impressive Adair County High School Band convoy is en route at this time and should arrive in Columbia, KY via Campbellsville ST, at approximately 12:30pmCT for a triumphant circle of the Columbia Square, exiting on Jamestown ST, will cross Tutt to Burkesville ST, Burkesville ST to Hudson, Hudson Street to Walker, Walker to Greensburg ST, Greensburg ST to 230 Gen. John Adair RD to the Raymond H. Lacy Music Building, the world headquarters of The Band Nation. Historic moment for the program, for area High School bands Saturday night was a triumphant one for the program, as well. First place in the Class AAAAA, for the largest bands, went to Paul Laurance Dunbar High School, directed by Adair County band alumnus Jeff Hood. The second place band, Bourbon County, is led by Eric Hale, an Adair County alumnus. Neighboring Taylor County High School, Campbellsville, KY, won a statewide 4th place victory. Neighbor Russell County High School, Russell Springs, KY, was a finalist in the competion at the University of Louisville Papa John's stadium. And Green County High School, Greensburg, KY in a different division, was a state finalist, though at post time, their standing in the competition hasn't been received at CM.
