Auxiliary welcomes back Louise Brock, Margaret Sparks

A special welcome back was given to President Margaret Sparks and Louise Brock. Margaret is now recuperating at home after being at Summit Manor for several weeks. We were extremely happy to have her in attendance even though she did not feel like chairing the meeting. It was also great to have Louise Brock with us. She always adds a special ray of sunshine!

Treasurer's report by Evelyn Phelps

Due to the absence of Secretary Sharon Harris, who is recovering from a total knee replacement, the minutes were not read. Treasurer Evelyn Phelps gave the financial report. The report showed that the following items had been purchased for Westlake Hospital: health monitor, label printer for the pharmacy, curtains for ICU, fax machine, scales, mail cart, blinds for ICU and a special laboratory chair that will seat a mother and child. Total cost for the items were $7,423.60.

County Agent Nick Roy guest speaker

The guest speaker for the evening was Nick Roy, Adair County Extension Agent for Agriculture and Natural Resources. Nick gave an outstanding presentation on the University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service, the role of each Extension Agent and the many different ways the citizens of Adair County are helped through their efforts.

He also shared information on the College of Agriculture and School of Family and Consumer Sciences who have specialists in many different areas who in turn are a support system for the Extension Agents. The specialists help to keep the agents up to date with the latest research base information. This information is shared with the people of Adair County.

Extension Agent Roy also discussed Agriculture in Adair County which was very informative and educational. A copy of the "Extension Today" annual report was given to each member. This report gives a summary of the accomplishments made by the Extension Service during 2009.
