Driver airlifted from scene of KY 90 collision near Burkesville Burkesville, KY driver airlifted from scene. Fairplay, KY, driver was attempting to avoid vehicle stopped in front of him. Dump truck, Jimmy hit head on By Trooper William Gregory, Public Affairs Officer News from Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, KY Burkesville, KY - Trooper Morris Farris is investigating a collision that occurred Tuesday afternoon at 12:40pm five miles West of Burkesville on KY 90. Jeffrey W. Spoon, age 44 of Fairplay, KY, was traveling West on KY 90 in a 1994 Kenworth dump truck when he attempted to avoid a vehicle that was stopped in front of him. Spoon entered the East bound lane striking a 2000 GMC Jimmy head on, being operated by Betty M. Grider, age 51 of Burkesville, KY.Grider was airlifted from the scene by AIREVAC to the University of Louisville Hospital. Both drivers were wearing a seat belt. Trooper Farris was assisted at the scene by Trooper Dewayne Holder, CVE Officer Randall Honeycutt, the Cumberland County Sheriff's Department, Cumberland County EMS, Burkesville and Marrowbone Fire Departments, and the Cumberland County Hwy Department.
