Fred Daniel Cross earns Th.D.

Dr. Cross received Doctor of Theology from Slidell Baptist Seminary. Dan is the son of Adair Co., KY native Mrs. Stella Frances Grider Cross and grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Marion Grider

Huntsville, Texas resident, Dan Cross, recently completed his degree requirements from Slidell Baptist Seminary, and was conferred a Doctor of Theology.



Dan is the son of Adair County native, Mrs. Stella Frances Grider Cross, and retired Brigadier General Fred W. Cross, a Somerset native; and great-grandson of the late William M. Cross, former pastor of Pitman Creek Baptist Church, Somerset, KY.

Dan is employed as a Classification Case Manager at the O.B. Ellis Unit with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. He is previously retired from T.D.C.J., as well as the U.S. Army Reserve in which he served as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Military Police Corps.

He is also a graduate of Western Kentucky University, Dan holds an A.B. in Sociology and a M.A. in Education; as well as a M.A. in Theological Studies from the Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary.

His current lay ministry consists of multi-denominational pulpit supply and leading Bible study at his place of worship, First Baptist Church, Huntsville, TX, as well as serving as a volunteer Chaplain with the Rapid Response Team, a Ministry of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.

Dan's wife, Cynthia, has three children, Kenna, David, Hans; and two granddaughters Kaila and Taylor. Dan's closest Adair County family members include his uncle's wife, Mrs. Walter Edwin Grider; and first cousins, Mrs. Jerrilyn Kay Ballou Emberton and Mr. Erwin Heinrich Lepiarczyk II. Dan is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Marion Grider.
