Two Breckinridge jail employees arrested on drug charges

Guards alleged to have sold drugs, contraband cigarettes to inmates of Breckinridge Co. Detention Center, Hardinsburg, KY

On Wednesday October 13, 2010 units from Kentucky State Police West Drug Enforcement andKentucky State Police Drug Task Force received an anonymous tip that two guards were sellingdrugs and contraband tobacco to the inmates at the Breckinridge County Detention Center.



Investigators were able to purchase drugs from the two guards using an anonymous source.

After further investigation, search and arrest warrants were obtained for William David Reed andShannon Joe Wade and their residence.

A search of the residence, shared by Reed and Wade, yielded 25 dose units of Hydrocodone and 28 grams of Marijuana, Cigarettes and SmokelessTobacco.

Reed and Wade were arrested and lodged in the Grayson County Jail. KSP West DrugEnforcement was assisted by Kentucky State Police Post 4, Breckinridge County Sheriff's Office,and Breckinridge County Detention Center. This matter is still under investigation by Det. RonEckart.
