Click on headline for story plus photo(s)

By Gary Rose

Columbia, KY, October 9, 2010 It was a great day for a bike ride and while I was on my way home from Downtown Days I was thinking that this is the weekend of GABRAKY, so I snapped a couple pictures of the "G" with an arrow on Bull Run Lane at KY 206. The symbols will guide the riders through Adair County.

Sunday October 10th the Governor's Autumn Bike Ride Across Kentucky (GABRAKY) will be passing through Adair County and Columbia. The GABRAKY is a 235-mile bike ride that starts at the Ohio River in Carrollton, KY and ends at the boat ramp in Dale Hollow State Park.

The ride serves as a fundraiser to support the performing arts and restoration of the Grand Theatre in Frankfort, KY. The bicyclists will be passing through Columbia before and after lunch either in small groups, larger groups or by them selves.

In Columbia the cyclists will be stopping for lunch at Lindsey Wilson College before departing for Dale Hollow using SR 55 and SR704. Please be on the look out for the riders and let them safely pass through our county. -Gary Rose, Bicycling Adair County<
