Griffitt Powell in NDSS video shown in Times Square Click on headline for story plus link to video Special ColumbiaMagazine.com/NDSS story Submitted by Michelle Powell, Columbia, KY Griffitt Powell, the son of Brent and Michelle Powell of Columbia, KY appeared in lights on Broadway on Saturday, September 25, 2010, as part of the National Down Syndrome Society's video production to demonstrate that people with Down syndrome can be successfully included in community activities, education and employment. Griffitt's was selected from over 1,000 entries in the NDSS worldwide call for photos. Approximately 225 photographs appeared in a video production that was shown on the larger-than-life MTV plasma screen, located in the heart of Times Square. Griffitt is a blessing "I feel very blessed to have Griffitt as my son and a great responsibility to educate and advocate on his behalf," Michelle Powell said. "I will gladly share other events that take place on this exciting journey," she said. She invites those interested in support groups for Down Syndrom children to contact her at powellpresidence@gmail.com Griffitt's photo is at 11:26 minutes into the video and the video is approximately 17 minutes long.
