Obituary: John Robert Allen, 82, Casey Co, KY

He was the head of a large, respected Casey Co. family. He was a farmer, worked for the State Hwy Department, and was a member of the Atwood's Chapel United Methodist Church

John Robert Allen, 82 died Friday October 1, 2010 at his home on Griffith Ridge Road in Casey Co., KY.

The funeral service is 2pmET/1pmCT, Monday October 4, 2010, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville ST, Liberty, KY, by Bro. Ed Parton and Bro. Mike Pitzer. Burial will be in Wilson Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday, October 3, 6pm-9pmET/5pm-8pmCT,.at the funeral home.



John Robert Allen, Casey Co., KY (1928-2010)

Born August 27, 1928 in Casey Co, KY, he was the son of the late Claud and Mae Sharp Allen. He died Friday, October 1, 2010, in Casey Co., KY, at the age of 82 years, 1 months, and 4 days.

He was a farmer, worked for the State Hwy Department, and was a member of the Atwood's Chapel United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, DeDe Long Allen of Liberty, KY, and the following:
  • Three sons: Larry Dale and (Judy) Allen, Johnny B. and (Susie) Allen and Roger and (Michelle) Allen all of Liberty, KY

  • Two daughters: Rosa Lee and (Thomas) Graham of Perryville, KY; and Rita and (Frank) Wethington of Liberty, KY

  • Twelve grandchildren

  • Seventeen great grandchildren

  • Two great great grandchildren

  • Two step grandchildren

  • And four step-great-grandchldren
In addition to his parent, he was preceded in death by a son, Troy Allen; a grandchild; brother, George F. Allen; and sister, Sue Lewis.

McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 572 Campbellsville ST, Liberty, KY, in charge of arrangements.
