Obituary: Clarence Swears, 74, Campbellsville, KY

He was member of the Brooks Baptist Church, and was a veteran of the Korean War. He will be accorded full military honors by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard. He was retired from General Electric in Louisville, KY

Clarence "Tenny" Swears of Campbellsville, KY, died at 10:00 P.M., Friday, October 1, 2010, in Greensburg, KY.

Graveside services will be at 11amET/10amCT, Tuesday, October 5, 2010, at the Lebanon National Cemetery, 20 Highway 208, Lebanon, KY, by Rev. Jim Durham with Full Military Honors by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard



Pallbearers: Terry Dooley, Richard Dudgeon, Carl Gardner, Arlin Pritchard, Robert Rogers, and Derek Wise.

Clarence "Tenny" Swears, Taylor Co., KY (1936-2010)

Clarence "Tenny" Swears of Campbellsville, son of the late Clarence L. Swears and Ada Jackson Polley Swears, was born in Taylor Co., KY, Wednesday, August 19, 1936. He died Friday, October 1, 2010, in Greensburg, KY at the age of 74 years, 1 month, and 12 days.

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Brooks Baptist Church in Brooks, KY.

He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War, having served his country honorably in the United States Air Force.

He retired from General Electric Company in Louisville, KY.

He united in marriage to Marjorie Brown January 12, 1957.

Besides his wife, Marjorie Swears of Campbellsville, KY, he is survived by the followling:
  • One son and one daughter: Kevin Swears and Dawn Wise of Campbellsville, KY

  • Four grandchildren: Derek Wise of Bowling Green, KY; Brittany Hatfield of Leitchfield, KY; and Kimberly Swears and Patrick Swears of Mt. Sherman, KY

  • Three great-grandchildren: Jonas Hatfield, Lake Hatfield, and Laslen Hatfield

  • One brother, Jackie Swears of Mt. Washington, KY

  • And several other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Steve Wise November 7, 2009 and one half-sister and two half-brothers: Virginia Phelps, Benny Polley, and James Polley.
