Obituary: Frank Arles Dykes, 88, Russell Co., KY

He was a member of a highly regarded Russell County family. He was a farmer and was a veteran of the U.S. Army

Frank Arles Dykes, 88, E Hwy 619, Russell Springs, KY, died Thursday, September 30, 2010, at his home.

The funeral will be Sunday, October 3, 2010, at 2pmCT, at Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 Main ST, Russell Springs, KY, with Bro. David Coffey and Bro. Cleveland Johnson officuating and special music by Bobby Dunbar.Burial will be in Russell Springs City Cemetery. Visitation will be after 5pmCT, Saturday, October 2, 2010, at the funeral home.

Pallbearers: Arlis "McArthur" Guffey, Matthew Guffey, Chris Guffey, Billy Dykes, Billy Dykes, Jr., Charles Cape, Glen Ballenger, Charles Gore, Donnie Coffey, and Coy Morris.

Frank Arles Dykes, Russell Co., KY (1922-2010)

Frank Arles Dykes was born September 5, 1922, in Russell Co., KY. He was the son of the late Lula Blankenship Dykes and Joe Frank Dykes. He died Thursday, September 30, 2010, in Russell Springs, Russell Co., KY, at the age of 88 years, and 25 days.

He was a farmer and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his wife, Beatrice Gosser Dykes, and the following:
  • Two granddaughters: Sonja ballenger Vitatoe, Jeffersonville, KY; and Glenna Ballenger (Eddie) Thomas, Russell Springs, KY

  • Three great grandchildren: Lacey Ann Holt, Dustin Alex Ballenger, and Sydney Nicole Robison

  • One brother: James "Bud" Dykes, Jamestown, KY

  • Two sisters: Reb Garner, Russsell Springs, KY; and Rena Walden-Kennedy, Indianapolis, IN
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Gladys Adese ballenger; three brothers, Luther Dykes, Arvis Dykes, and Oris "Dee" Dykes; and two sisters, Rettie Guffey and Imoion Short.

Bernard Funeral Home, 367 Main ST, Russell Springs, KY, in charge of arrangements.
