Obituary: Elizabeth L. Rogers, 88, Columbia, KY

She was a member of a highly regarded Adair Co., KY, family. She was a member of Columbia Christian Church. She was a former telephone switchboard operator, and was respected for her supervisory skills

Elizabeth L. Rogers, 88, of Columbia, died Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at 9:48pm at the Westlake Regional Hospital, Columbia, KY.

The funeral service will be Friday, October 1, 2010 at 11amCT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville ST, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Terry White officiating.Burial will be in Columbia Cemetery, 315 Campbellsville ST, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be after 5pmCT, Thursday, September 30, 2010, at the funeral home.


Elizabeth L. Rogers, Columbia, KY (1922-2010)

Elizabeth L. was the daughter of the late Joe S. and Elva Murrell Knifley She was born Saturday, April 22, 1922 in Adair Co., KY. She died Tuesday, September 28, 2010, in Columiba, Adair County, KY, at the age of 88 years, 5 months, and 6 days.Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy C. Rogers in 1967 and by a sister, Louise Knifley in 1982.

She was a member of Columbia Christian Church, a former switchboard operator, bookkeeper and a "born supervisor."Survivors include the following:
  • Her daughter: Debbie Rogers Hall of Columbia, KY

  • Two brothers-in-law: Richard & his wife Arlene Rogers, Jim Rogers all of Louisville, KY

  • Two sisters-in-law: Jane Carol Coomer, Hilda & her husband Mike Speck all of Elizabethtown, KY

  • Two nephews and three nieces: Chuck and John Rogers, Sarah Coomer, Michelle Phillips, Angela Wilcox

  • Several other relatives & a host of friends.
Memorials are suggested to Adair Co. Public Library or Lindsey Wilson College. These may be made at the funeral home.

Grissom-Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
