Adair County Garden Club gearing up for Downtown Days

Garden Club will have booths in Food Court and will have special items for birds

By Maury Lewis
News from the Adair Co. Garden Club

The garden club was up and at it early this morning to plan for Downtown Days. We worked on how things would be done on the day of, October 9, 2010.

Then we started making suet balls for the birds of Adair County. They are made from rendered fat, peanut butter, corn meal, sunflower hearts, bird seed, peanut chips and chopped up mixed dried fruit.

After all this was togther we rolled them into 1 pound balls and put them in the onion bags we have been collecting for several months and tied them with a rope so they can be hung in the trees of Adair County.

These can be purchased from garden club members for $3.00 each.

If you want to place an order for these call Barbara Armitage (270) 250-2979 or Maury Lewis (270) 384-8890.

These need to be fed to the birds this winter not while it is hot. You can place them in your freezer until cold weather arrives.

We invite you to come see us at our booths in the food court at Downtown Days. Maury Lewis
