The "Emergency Called Adair Co., KY Fiscal Court Meeting," is so named because of statutory requirements, and represents an opportunity, not a crisis, according to Adair County Judge Ann Melton.

"We're finally getting money promised by the state back in March," she said. The money is called "Flex" money, because it allows each county who gets it to be flexible in how it is used.

In Adair County, the money will be used to resurface or patch 13 roads which were promised by some magistrates, earlier. The "Emergency Called Meeting," Judge Melton said, will allow Adair County to get its paperwork in, and its $232,073.00 share of the Flex funds earlier. Judge Melton thinks that the process can be complete in time get road work done this fall, before the blacktop plant shuts down for the winter.

The money is being divvied up eight ways, with Judge Melton and each of the magistrates getting to select projects each selects as a priority.
