Click on headline for story plus photo By Kim Goodin, Adair County Girls Golf Coach Regional Tournament at Glasgow Country Club in Glasgow, KY on September 27, 2010. It was a tough day on the golf course at the Regional Tournament at Glasgow Country Club in Glasgow, KY on September 27, 2010. The course was extremely difficult. The two best teams in the region only had one girl between them break an 80. Only two girls in the entire field of 81 golfers broke the score of 80. Olivia Parrott from Green Co. was 5th Region Champion shooting a 78. Taylor Moore of Barren Co. was Runner up with a 79.Green Co. won the Region as a team with a score of 330. Glasgow was runner up with a 338.Adair Co. finished 9th in the field with a 407. Our goal was to finish in the top ten and we did. As difficult as the course was, I felt for all the young ladies out there playing. Ashley Goodin shot 92, Rachel Phipps 99, Emilee Royse 106 and Abby Royse 110. I am proud of how they toughed it out today. On one shot, Abby Royse even took off her shoes and socks, waded into the water to hit a shot to avoid an additional penalty stroke. In cold, rainy weather that takes guts. I told her she has watched too much TV where the pros pull a stunt like that. She did hit that shot on the green!Another bright spot today was Ashley Goodin being selected for the All Region team by the coaches. I'm sure she wished she could have performed better but golf can be tough at times. As a coach, I appreciate their consideration and selection of her. I had a coach tell me he voted for her because he liked her demeanor on the course and how she handles herself as well as her golfing ability. We want to thank all the news media for their coverage of girls' golf this season. Thanks to all the parents and others who supported us this year. We look forward to being back again next year.
