News from Westlake Regional Hospital Auxiliary

The Westlake Regional Hospital Auxiliary met Monday, September 20 at 6:30 PM at the HospitalCafe, 901 Westlake Drive in Columbia for their monthly meeting. Due to the absence of PresidentMargaret Sparks, Vice-President Shirley Grider called the meeting to order by welcoming membersand a special guest Glenna Burton.



Auxiliary gave $2,287.55 in WRH Improvements

The minutes were read by Secretary Sharon Harris. The financial report was given by TreasurerEvelyn Phelps. The report showed that the following items had been purchased by the Auxiliaryfor Westlake Hospital: Window blinds, mail cart, fax machine, a special laboratory chair that willseat a mother and child, curtains for ICU and utility scale. Total cost for the items were: $2,287.55.Department lists were reviewed and a discussion followed on other items that are badly needed forour hospital. Several other items will be purchased and reported at the October meeting.

Thank you from President Sparks

A thank you card was read from President Margaret Sparks for the gift sent to her at Summit Manorby the Auxiliary. We wish Margaret a speedy recovery and look forward to her return home and to the Auxiliary meetings. Margaret, You are missed!

Cards sent to three

Cards were signed by each member and will be sent to the following:
  • Pauline Davenport - Sympathy in the loss of her brother.
  • Arleen Jessee - (a former Auxiliary member) Sympathy in the loss of her daughter Janice Turner.
  • Betty Flaynik - Get well/thinking of you.
Plans made for Health Fair

Plans were made for the Health Fair. Again this year the Auxiliary will be selling food under the tent andtickets for the raffle. A beautiful crystal lamp will be given away. Tickets are $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00.Funding from the sale of food and the raffle will be used for purchasing supplies needed at Westlake. A schedule for workers was made for the Health Fair. All Auxiliary members are encouraged to bringfood items of your choice to the tent for sale. (cakes, pies, candy, cookies, Jellies/Jams,sandwiches, orwhatever you choose to bring. Also if anyone can come work, please contact Shirley Grider at 384-2981.

Glenna Burton is new member

The Auxiliary welcomed Glenna Burton as a new member. Hats off to Wanda Bardin for inviting Glenna to visit the Auxiliary meeting and extending an invitation to membership. This is the second new member that Wanda has recruited within the past few weeks. Wanda you are appreciated!

Pauline Davenport, Sharon Harris were hostesses

Hostess for the meeting were Pauline Davenport and Sharon Harris. Delicious refreshments were served to those in attendance: Wanda Bardin, Delwin Blair, Glenna Burton, Margie Coffey, Shirley Grider, Mary Hadley, Yvonne Marshall, Evelyn Phelps, Betty Thorsen and Sue Stivers.

Salad Supper at next meeting

The next meeting will be our annual "Salad Supper." Each member is encouraged to bring a salad of their choice. The date is Monday, October 18, 2010 at 6:30pmCT at the Hospital Cafe, 901 Westlake DR, Columbia, KY. Come and let's fellowship together. The welcome mat is always out to visitors and prospective members. If you want to be a part of an organization that works for helping improve our local Hospital facilities and making our community a better place to live, then you should become involved in the Hospital Auxiliary.
