News from Adair County High School Athletics

The Adair girls' golf team finished in 6th place out of 11 teams, shooting a 396 on Saturday, September 11, 2010, in the Warren East Tournament in Bowling Green, KY.

Taylor County won the tournament, shooting a 336.

Ashley Goodin finished 8th out of 62 golfers with an 82. Emilee Royse placed 16th shooting a 96, Rachel Phipps 31 st with a 105 and Abby Royse 39th with a 113. Paige Higdon from Grayson Co. won individual honors shooting a 75.

On Monday, September 13, 2010, in the Heartland Conference tournament, the girls finished 4th out of 6 teams.

We played well as a team today shaving 22 strokes off our score from Saturday.

We had everyone shoot in the 90's or better and have only accomplished that one other time in 2008 at the Lady Raider Invitational when we placed third and shot our best team score of 347.

Our team total today was 374.

Green Co. placed 2nd in the Class A State Tournament this past weekend and won the Heartland with a 308.

Cassidy Scantland and Kate Larimore tied for medalist with 75 having a playoff that was decided on the first hole.

Cassidy Scantland was the individual Heartland Conference Champion.

Ashley Goodin finished 8th shooting an 86, All three golfers, Emilee Royse (95), Abby Royse (95), and Rachel Phipps (98) shot their personal best in tournament play so far this year.

Abby Royse was the nicest surprise shooting 18 strokes under her tournament average. Abby has always played well at Rosewood and she played with confidence today. I'm proud of all our girls. We have potential, if they will just dedicate themselves to getting better. It just takes extra practice outside of what we can do as a team.

On behalf of the girls' golf team, I would like to say congratulations to Coach Burton and the boys' golf team for their win at the Heartland Conference Tournament. -Kim Goodin, Adair County High School Girls Golf Coach.
Next up for the Adair County High School girls' team is Metcalfe County High on Tuesday, September 14, 2010, at The Pines at Lindsey Wilson, 275 Country Club RD, Columbia, KY. Tee time is set for 3:45pmCT.
