MENs SOCCER: Jamie Allen and John Kennedy of CU sweep MSC soccer awards Campbellsville (5-0) opens its Mid-South Conference schedule Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at Lindsey Wilson (3-1-1). The game is scheduled for 8pmET/7pmCT at Walter S. Reuling Stadium, 151 Holloway DR, Columbia, KY. By Chris Megginson News from Campbellsville University Sports Information For the third time in as many years, a pair of Campbellsville University men's soccer players have swept the Mid-South Conference Player of the Week honors. Freshmen Jamie Allen and John Kennedy were awarded the MSC Offensive Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week honors, respectively, Monday, September 13, 2010. Allen, a forward from Leicester, England, earned his second consecutive MSC honor after netting his second hat trick of the season in a 6-0 home victory over Berea College. Allen followed up with his 10th goal of the season in Campbellsville's 7-0 win over Tennessee Temple University. Allen leads the Mid-South Conference in points per game (4.5) and goals per game (2.3) this season. He ranks second in the NAIA in both categories. Kennedy, a defender from Lochgilphead, Scotland, earned his first MSC honor after guiding Campbellsville to consecutive shut outs and limiting the number of shots faced by CU goal keepers. Kennedy also assisted Allen's second goal in the win over Berea on September 8, 2010. This is the first men's soccer Player of the Week sweep for 2010 and ninth time that both awards have gone to players on the same team since the MSC began awarding a two weekly honors in 2007. Other CU players to sweep a week's honors were James Clements and Ramiro Sanchez on Oct. 26, 2009 and Clements and Camilo Muller on September 8, 2008. The only team to sweep the weekly awards more than Campbellsville is Lindsey Wilson College, which has had four MSC Player of the Week sweeps. University of the Cumberlands and University of Rio Grande have each done so once. Campbellsville (5-0) opens its Mid-South Conference schedule Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at Lindsey Wilson (3-1-1). The game is scheduled for 8pmET/7pmCT at Walter S. Reuling Stadium, 151 Holloway DR, Columbia, KY. This story was posted on 2010-09-14 04:04:38
