Blue Raiders look to bounce back on Gridiron

Veterans to be honored Saturday

By Dan White
News from Lindsey Wilson College Sports Information

Columbia, KY - Football at Lindsey Wilson College officially returned after a 75-year hiatus last weekend in a 14-10 loss to Notre Dame (OH) College. The anticipation of seeing that first snap has passed, leaving the Blue Raiders eager to get back on the field in search of a win.

Southern Virginia University offers Lindsey Wilson its next chance at victory, visiting Blue Raider Stadium, 820 Hanley LN, Columbia, KY, at 1:30pmCT on Saturday, September 11, 2010.

Its tough to know what to expect from the Knights on the field as their lone win was a 44-6 rout of Radford (VA) University, while their lone loss was a 72-21 blowout at the hands of Concord (WV) University.

Z Garner is the starting quarterback for Southern Virginia. Garner has completed 24-of-47 passes through two games with four touchdowns and three interceptions. He is averaging just 107.5 yards per game.

A trio of running backs handle the rushing duties for the Patriots who average 112.5 yards on the ground per game. Steven Andreasen leads the pack with 117 total yards, while Steven Scott averages a team-high 62 yards per game. Colby Massa rounds out the group, amassing 43 net yards in just four rushing attempts.

One area Lindsey Wilson will look to approve on is rushing. The Blue Raiders were limited to just 32 net rushing yards after losing 51 yards, due in large part to giving up multiple sacks to Notre Dame.

Both Blue Raider quarterbacks will look to improve their numbers as Greg Young was accurate, completing 5-of-6 passes, but for only 74 yards with an interception. Ricky Bowling completed 11-of-24 passes for 88 yards, while also throwing a pick.

With the game coinciding with the National Day of Remembrance for 9/11, all military personnel and veterans who show their ID will be admitted free to the game. The complimentary tickets may be picked up at will call at the stadium ticket booth on the day of the game.
