Obituary: Merle (Tutor) Benningfield, Taylor Co., KY

He was a former manager of the cafeteria at Fruit of the Loom. He was a member of the St. Andrew Methodist Church. He was an avid golfer and was a member of Campbellsville Country Club

Merle "Tutor" Benningfield, 80 Campbellsville, KY, died at 11amCT, Monday, August 30, 2010 in Greensburg, KY.

Funeral services will be at 11amET/10amCT, Friday, September 3, 2010 at the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, 418 Lebanon AV, Campbellsville, KY, by Bro. Todd Davis. Burial will be in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens, 3878 Greensburg RD, Campbellsville, KY. Visitation will be after 5pmET/4pmCT, Thursday, September 2, 2010 at the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home



Pallbearers: Caleb Bell, John Benningfield, Nicholas Benningfield, Reed Benningfield, Adam Bloyd, Gary Goodin, and Cory Wright.

Merle "Tutor" Benningfield, Taylor Co., KY (1930-2010)

Merle "Tutor" Benningfield of Campbellsville, son of the late Victor Benningfield and Mazy Goodin Benningfield, was born, Sunday, June 15, 1930 in Pekin, Tazewell Co., IL. He died at 11amCT, Monday, August 30, 2010 in Greensburg, Green Co., KY, at the age of 80 years, 2 months, and 15 days.

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of the St. Andrew Methodist Church.

He was retired manager of Fruit of the Loom Cafeteria in Campbellsville.

He was a member of the Campbellsville Country Club and an avid golfer.

He united in marriage to Aileen Garrison December 25, 1954.

Besides his wife, Aileen Benningfield of Campbellsville, KY, he is survived by the following:
  • Two sons and two daughters: Barry Benningfield and wife, Lisa, Dickie Benningfield and wife, Marsha, and Susie Hash and husband, Troy, of Campbellsville, KY; and Sharon Bloyd and husband, Eddie of Greensburg, KY

  • Seven grandchildren: Katie Ford, Reed Benningfield and wife, Tabby and Brady Hash of Campbellsville, KY; Michelle Bletzacker of Dublin, OH; Nicholas Benningfield of California, Adam Bloyd and wife, Brooke of Savannah, GA; and Chelsea Bloyd of Greensburg, KY

  • Seven great-grandchildren: Seth Ford, Abby Ford, Nate Ford, Drake Benningfield, Ashton Anderson, Camden Anderson and Christian Anderson

  • A brother: Bob Benningfield of Antioch, TN

  • Sister-in-law: Frances Benningfield of Campbellsville, KY

  • Several nieces and nephews

  • His beloved dog: Heidi

  • Many other relatives and friends
He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Lindsey Kay Benningfield April 9, 1987; two brothers and one sister: Dan Benningfield, Nolan Benningfield and Jewell Kemp.

The family requests expressions of sympathy be donations to Ronald McDonald House which may be made at funeral home.

The Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, 418 Lebanon AV, Campbellsville, KY, in charge of arrangements.
