Obituary: Richard Capps, 72, Cumberland Co., KY

He was a member of the Red Banks United Methodist Church and was a former employee of Rocore Thermal in Burkesville, KY

Richard "Rufus" Capps, age 72 of Burkesville, KY passed away Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at the Cumberland County Hospital after an illness.

The funeral service will be Saturday, August 28, 2010 at 2pmCT, at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. Burkesville, KY with Bro. Charles Huddleston and Bro. Todd Bryant officiating. Burial will be in the Poplar Grove CemeteryVisitation will be be after 4pmCT, Friday, August 27 2010, at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home in Burkesville, KY.



Richard "Rufus" Capps, Burkesville, KY (1938-2010)

Richard "Rufus" Capps was born on Sunday, May 1, 1938 in Cumberland Co., KY. He was the son of the late late Gracie Harvey and Albert Capps. He died Wednesday, August 25, 2010, in Burkesville, Cumberland Co., KY, at the age of 72 years, 3 months, and 24 days.

He was a member of Red Banks United Methodist Church and a former employee of Rocore Thermal in Burkesville.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Novia Riley Capps, and one daughter, Patricia Capps.

Survivors Include the following:
  • His wife: Thelma Capps of Burkesville, KYThree sisters: Shirley Lawrence, Betty Capps, and Margie Gray all of Indianapolis, IN

  • Two brothers: Don Harvey and Larry Harvey both of Indianapolis, IN

  • Two step daughters: Anna Murphy and her husband Terry and Vickie Burchett and her husband Joey all of Burkesville, KY

  • One step son: Bryant Stearns and his wife Sheila of Albany, KY

  • Special nephew: Ricky Riley of Burkesville, KY

  • Special cousin:Hazel Melton and her husband Wayne of Burkesville, KY

  • Brother-in-law: Lecil Riley and his wife Peggy of Burkesville, KY

  • Eight step grandchildren:

  • Nine step great grandchildren

  • and a host of other relatives and friends.
