LWC, with help of Adair Progress saved Camp Casey program Praise and appreciation for Bonner Leadership program About: LWC receives $500,000 Bonner Foundation endowment grant By Patty Jones Principal, Col. Wm. Casey School I just want to add my praise and appreciation for the students in the Bonner Leadership Program at Lindsey Wilson College and for the leadership they receive from Amy Thompson-Wells and Elise Luckey. These students have been a key component in our Camp Casey Afterschool Program for the past several years. Last year when our grant for the program expired Lindsey Wilson College stepped in to basically save the program. They agreed to continue on as the volunteer core of the program. Fortunately through funds that had been saved by the program and the support of the Adair Progress we were able to maintain a coordinator for the program to oversee the Bonner volunteers. Therefore, the students at Col. Wm. Casey will be able to continue on with quality afterschool care and programming thanks to the Bonner students and community support. We are so fortunate to have people in our community that believe in the importance of quality opportunities for our children. The students who participate in the Bonner Leadership program at LWC are always top-quality students with high-level skills and values. As we met with the students in our orientation meeting at CWC on Monday I was once again impressed with the enthusiasm and energy that these students possess. They not only will be facilitating the program this year, but also be planning and implementing the activities. We also have the support of the Lindsey Wilson Athletics Department who will be sending members of the various athletics teams at the school to mentor our students. To say that we are excited about the program and indebted to Lindsey Wilson College and the Bonner Leadership Program would be an understatement. The program at CWC will kick-off on September 7, 2010, and the Bonner students will be there, along with the program coordinator, Dana Harmon, to see to it that our students have opportunities in Art, Music, Technology, Science, Literacy, Health, Fitness, Foreign Languages, Geography, and more! Col. Wm. Casey thinks that Bonner Leadership Program is one of the many good things that makes our community great! -Patty Jones, PrincipalCol. Wm.
