200 + acres of Adair, Co., KY tobacco storm damaged The Adair County Extension Service will host discussion on "Managing Wind Damaged Tobacco" with UK Tobacco Specialist Bob Pearce at 9amCT, Thursday, August 12, 2010, at 409 Fairgrounds ST, Columbia, KY By Nick Roy News from the Adair County Cooperative Extension Service Last week's storms brought winds that blew down tobacco in the Cane Valley, Coburg, Knifley, Glensfork, and Garlin communities. Total acreage of damaged tobacco is suspected to be around 200 or more acres. The damage ranges from light to severe damage. In response to this event, the Adair County Cooperative Extension Service, 409 Fairgrounds ST, Columbia, KY will be holding an emergency meeting to assist farmers make management decisions regarding their damaged crop on Thursday August 12, 2010 at 9amCT. UK Tobacco Specialist Bob Pearce will be on hand leading discussion and answering questions. For more information contact Nick Roy at the Adair County Cooperative Extension Service at (270) 384-2317.
