Three injured in motor vehicle/buggy collision in Casey Co., KY

Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, KY

Trooper Bryan Shepard, KSP Post 15, Columbia, KY, is investigating a collision that occurred at 5:05pmCT on S KY 501, seven miles south of Liberty, KY.William Salyers, 21 years of age, of Liberty, KY was operating a 1994 Chevrolet northbound on HWY 501. Salyers attempted to pass a horse drawn buggy and failed to negotiate the distance, therefore striking the buggy.



The buggy was being operated by 41 year old Joseph Burkholder, of Liberty, KY. Burkholder was not injured.

Burkholder had 5 passengers, all of whom were all from Liberty, KY: Irene Burkholder, 16 years of age (transported to Ephraim McDowell, Danville, KY), Jonas Burkholder, 10 years of age (transported to Ephraim McDowell, Danville, KY), Alex Burkholder, 12 years of age (not injured), Mary Burkholder, 8 years of age (transported to Ephraim McDowell, Danville, KY), and Alvin Burkholder, 5 years of age (not injured).
